BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- It is smiles on people's faces that keeps Priest Morrison, or better known as the Little Ceasars Dancing Cowboy, loving his job.No matter if it is freezing cold or sizzling hot, the corner of Stockdale Highway and California Avenue is Morrison's stage."I get waves, I get hugs, I get laughter and other people say they get the finger. And that would daunt me," said Morrison.
You may have seen Morrison wearing his signature cowboy hat, dancing, smiling and waving to cars as they pass by. While Morrison said he is just trying to sell pizza, others may find he is entertainment as they wait for the light to turn green."I feel like I'm just coming to work, but people they are entertained, but it's strange, you know," said Morrison. After years of odd jobs, Morrison landed probably the oddest job yet, nearly two years ago. But it is a job Morrison says is fun and rewarding."My favorite job, it is my favorite job. I'm with the people, you know how that feels," he said. And the people just love him. Morrison has developed quite the fan base. Some of his fans started up a Facebook page for him. That page has grown to more than 5,000 friends--something Morrison said is funny because he doesn't even have a computer."This guy comes up driving by like 30 miles per hour screaming, 'I'm your friend on Facebook.' I didn't know what he was talking about. I thought he was speaking another language," said Morrison.Morrison said he had no clue what Facebook even was until a month ago, when somebody showed him his fan page on their cell phone."It's like you walk into a book store and you see a book about you. It is mind-boggling," he said. When asked what his secret is to be able to dance for hours in the elements six days a week, he said it is simple, "No smoking, no drinking, no drugs."
