"I was just trying to win, I was trying to put my team in a position to win."
Adrian Gonzalez provided all the offense, a three-run homer in the fourth, for the Padres, who snapped a five-game losing streak with the victory. Willy Taveras and Omar Quintanilla knocked in a run each for Colorado, which saw its three-game win streak halted. Ubaldo Jimenez (1-3) got the start, but absorbed the loss after he was touched for three runs on five hits in 6 2/3 innings of work. San Diego got on the board first in the fourth.
