Tiger Woods, Wife Welcome Second Child

No. 1 Golfer Expected To Return Before Masters Tournament

The world's No. 1 golfer has become a father for the second time.

Tiger Woods announced on his Web site that his wife, Elin, gave birth to the couple's second child -- a son, Charlie Axel -- on Sunday. Tiger and Elin already have a daughter, Sam Alexis, born in June 2007 -- the day after the U.S. Open.

"Both Charlie and Elin are doing great and we want to thank everyone for their sincere best wishes and kind thoughts. Sam is very excited to be a big sister and feel truly blessed to have such a wonderful family," Woods said on his Web site.

The 33-year-old won the U.S. Open last summer for his 14th career major. That was the last tournament he's played because of knee surgery that ended his 2008 season. He is expected to return before the Masters, possibly as early as the Accenture Match Play Championship on Feb. 25.

Woods wrote in a newsletter last week that his return to golf depends largely on the birth of his baby.
