Hunter, Guerrero Out Of Angels' Lineup

POSTED: 8:24 pm PDT July 8, 2009

(Sports Network) - The Los Angeles Angels were without the services of outfielders Torii Hunter and Vladimir Guerrero for Wednesday's series finale against Texas.

Hunter, who was recently elected to his third All-Star game, is sidelined with a strained adductor. He is batting .305 this season, and leads the club in home runs (17) and RBI (65).

Guerrero strained a muscle behind his left knee during the top of the eighth inning of Tuesday's 8-5 loss to the Rangers.

Texas had two straight men reach base to start the eighth inning. Jarrod Saltalamacchia walked and when Elvis Andrus singled to right, Guerrero charged the ball, but his left knee seemed to lock as he planted before throwing the ball toward the infield.

Guerrero received medical attention in the outfield before walking off under his own power and was replaced by Gary Matthews Jr.

It was just the second game in the outfield this season for Guerrero, who has been the regular designated hitter. He missed time this season with a tear in his right pectoral muscle and is hitting .290 with four homers and 21 RBI.

Both are waiting for results of MRIs to determine if they will need to go on the disabled list.
