Fresno -- The nation's leading rusher Ryan Mathews will not play in Fresno State's home finale this Saturday against Louisiana Tech, as he recovers from a concussion he suffered in the game against Nevada this past Saturday."We are pleased with the progress Ryan is making but after discussions with our medical team, we all agree it's in Ryan's best interest not to play this weekend," Hill said in a statement from the school. "We will take every precaution to make sure he's healthy before putting him back on the field. Based on how he's responding at this point, we expect that he will be able to return to practice as early as next week and should be completely healthy for the Illinois game.""I'm fine," Mathews said Sunday. "I got hit. That's the price you pay playing the game. He made a good, solid tackle. My head hit his shoulder pads.
"I was kind of in a daze, but everything came back. I remember everything and I'm doing good."
