EAGLES CUT MATHEWS
We're a little more than three weeks away from the first NFL game that actually means anything and a Bakersfield product is looking for a new team to call home.
After neck surgery in the offseason, West High grad Ryan Mathews was gearing up for his 8th season in the NFL before his team, the Philadelphia Eagles, cut him Tuesday morning following the running back's clearing of a physical.
So where will he go next? Speculation is rampant that it's Denver after Broncos team president John Elway liked and unliked a tweet regarding Mathews' release.

OTHER NFL PLAYERS FROM BAKERSFIELD
While Mathews continues to search for a new team, we thought we'd check in on the status of other Bakersfield products in the NFL (not named Carr/Kessler).
In Buffalo there's Liberty High grad Colton Schmidt who is listed as the starting punter on the Bills team depth chart. Incredibly, in the same division, another Bakersfield punter. Matt Darr is prepping for his third year as the starter for the Miami Dolphins.
Then there's Centennial product Jared Norris. While it's still early in preseason, he's listed as the 2nd strong linebacker for the Carolina Panthers and just recorded a team high 8 tackles in Carolina's 27-17 win over the Texans.
CARR TO RELEASE SINGLE?
We're not really sure about this one.

BCHS grad Derek Carr tweeted out a video hinting at the release of a new song on the website derekcarrmusic.com. Three hours later he tweeted that it was all just a joke.
?? everyone calm down it's ALL a joke! I don't really dress like that and make music videos on the side ??
