Blaze end eight-game losing strak, take care of Modesto at Sam Lynn Ballpark Friday night

Blaze defeat Modesto at home

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Blaze starter Jacob Johnson went seven strong innings, gave up five hits, two earned runs and had six strikeouts in the Blaze 6-3 win over Modesto Friday night at Sam Lynn Ballpark.

The Blaze jumped on Modesto starter Tyler Gagnon in the third.

Kyle Waldrop led off with a double, Yovan Gonzalez was hit by a pitch and Juan Perez reached base on a bunt single.  Ryan Wright then doubled off the rightfield wall to score Waldrop and Gonzalez for a 2-0 Blaze lead.

Yorman Rodriguez hit a solo homerun in the fourth go give the Blaze a 4-0 advantage. 

Both teams continue their series Saturday night at Sam Lynn Ballpark at 7:30.
