BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Kyle Waldrop's solo homerun in the seventh inning was enough to lift the Blaze to a 3-2 win over High Desert in the first game of the second half for both squads Thursday night at Sam Lynn Ballpark.
Blaze starter Shane Dyler threw seven shutout innings, allowing just four hits, no walks and striking out five to earn his second victory of the season (2-0).
The Blaze scored two runs to break up a scoreless tie in the sixth on an RBI double from Yorvan Gonzalez and Juan Silva brought Gonzalez home a RBI single of his own.
The two teams meet again Friday night at Sam Lynn Ballpark in the second game of their four-game series. Gametime is scheduled for 7:45.
