BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Juan Perez and Kyle Waldrop both homered, James Allen gave up just two runs in 6.2 innings and the Blaze defeated Modesto, 5-2, Monday night at Sam Lynn Ballpark.
The Blaze started the game off aggressively at the plate with a leadoff double from Juan Perez, who would be driven in for the team's first run later in the inning on a bloop single from Kyle Waldrop for a 1-0 Blaze lead.
Later in the inning, Juan Perez would hit a line-drive homer over the leftfield wall, a two-run shot to put the Blaze up 3-0.
Allen provided a lift on the hill by giving up just five hits and striking out five to garner his second win of the season (2-4).
The Blaze, who finished their seven-game homestand with a 2 and five mark, take Tuesday off before starting a brief four-game road trip to Stockton beginning Wednesday.
