Blaze turn 3-2 deficit into 8-3 win over Lake Elsinore on 4th of July

Blaze get it done against Lake Elsinore

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Kyle Waldrop's steal of home set the stage for the Blaze offensive explosion in the team's 8-3 win over Lake Elsinore Thursday night at Sam Lynn Ballpark.

Waldrop dashed home in the fourth inning when Storm pitcher Frank Garces threw to first on an attempted pickoff of Yovan Gonzalez, just getting under the tag of Lake Elsinore catcher Austin Hedges and giving the Blaze a 4-3 lead it would never relinquish.

The Blaze took off offensively from there in the fifth when Juan Silverio hit his ninth homer of the year, a two-run shot, to extend the Blaze lead to 6-3.

That lead would grow to 8-3 for the Blaze after scoring runs in both the seventh and eighth innings on their way to their second consecutive win.

The two teams play again Friday night at Sam Lynn Ballpark with a 7:45 start.
