Blaze Win Home Finale with One-Hitter, 4-1

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - James Allen went six innings, the Blaze smacked a pair of key homers, and on the final home game of 2013, the Bakersfield Blaze battered the Stockton Ports, 4-1, finishing off the home schedule with a flourish.

On a crowded Fan Appreciation Night, the Blaze put on a show.
The Ports scored the first run on a Bruce Maxwell solo homer in the 2nd inning, but the Blaze were the story.
James Allen (W, 9-11) allowed just that hit over his six innings of tremendous work, walking a trio of Ports but not allowing any to move beyond first.
On the offensive side, a recent Blaze slump came to an abrupt halt. Ryan Doolittle (L, 0-2), making just his second start since regaining his health, allowed runs in the 2nd and 3rd innings.
In the 2nd, Danny Vicioso doubled, and Juan Perez singled him home. In the 3rd, three singles from Juan Silva, Juan Silverio and Kyle Waldrop plated a second run, putting Bakersfield in front, 2-1, for good.
The real fireworks came in the 5th, when Juan Silverio and Juan Duran launched back-to-back homers off Stockton reliever Omar Duran. The Blaze went up, 4-1, and never looked back.
Allen's six innings were followed by one inning apiece from Ben Klimesh, Carlos Gonzalez, and Pat Doyle (S, 11), locking up a win to snap a 6-game skid and send the big crowd home happy.
Also worth noting, Juan Perez became the first Blaze to steal four bases in a game since Billy Hamilton last year, and Juan Silverio hit his 19th homer on the season and 3rd on the homestand. James Allen finished the season strong, racking up his ninth win, and combined with the three relievers on a spectacular one-hitter.
The Blaze now head on the road for the final four games of the season with the Visalia Rawhide.
The series begins Friday at 7:00pm with the Blaze Friday Night Game of the Week, broadcast locally on SmartTalk AM-1230 and online via Catch Dan Besbris with the pregame show at 6:55pm, and Blaze action to follow.
