Cal State-Bakersfield outlasts MVSU 69-64

LAS VEGAS - Stephon Carter scored 18 points and Cal State Bakersfield held on to beat Mississippi Valley State 69-64 Sunday in a consolation game of the Las Vegas Classic.

Tyrone White scored 15 points, Brandon Barnes scored 13 and Javante Maynor added 10 points for the Roadrunners (5-9), who held a 37-22 rebounding advantage.

MVSU (0-9) led by 11 at one point in the first half and was up 37-31 at halftime. But the Roadrunners rallied and ended up leading most of the second half, though never by more than six points.

Davon Usher led all scorers with 26 points for the Delta Devils. He was 15 of 19 from the free-throw line, matching the entire made free throw total of Bakersfield. Darryl Marshall added 18 points for MVSU.
