Saturday night in front of a record crowd of 3,880 the CSUB men's basketball team fell to New Mexico State 68-67. It was the first sellout crowd at the Icardo Center since 1993 and just the 3rd in school history.

The Runners jumped out to an early lead thanks to Damiyne Durham's 7 points and led 31-20 at the end of the first half.

In the second CSUB continued to dominate and led 47-34 with under 10 minutes to play but after that the Runners failed to score a field goal in regulation. The Aggies battled back to tie the game and after Brent Wrapp's 3 pointer came up short the game went to overtime.

In overtime the Runners again took the lead behind Jaylin Airington but again NM State tied the game and after Dedrick Basile's shot didn't go in the game went to a second overtime.

In the second overtime Kevin Mays, who finished with 9 points, gave the Runners the lead again. With under 10 seconds to play CSUB led 66-65 and had Airington at the line shooting two. He made the first but missed the second and after the Aggies rebound Ian Baker coolly walked up the court and made a 3 pointer at the buzzer to beat CSUB 68-67.

The Runners fall to 14-6 on the year (4-1 WAC) and travel to play Grand Canyon this Thursday. Head coach Rod Barnes said after, "I think we proved to everyone tonight that we're one of the best teams in our league." He continued saying, "If we had won the game I would have been happy for our kids but there wasn't going to be this big party. We're still in the process of building our program."
