BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Independence got solid contributions from Derek Check and Malcolm Johnson in the team's 46-37 win Friday night over Bakersfield High in the semifinals of the Garces Holiday Hoops Challenge at Garces High.
In a physical game, the Falcons were able to hold their own and control the tempo enough to hold the Drillers off down the stretch.
The Falcons advance to Saturday night's championship game against Garces in an 8:30 tipoff.
