Foothill pays homage to its athletes for the first 50 years of the school's existence

Foothill High recognizes its athletic best

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - 14 Foothill athletes and the 1988 CIF Boys Division II State Basketball championship team were recognized in the school's inaugural Foothill Athletic Hall of Fame Dinner Friday night at the Bakersfield Country Club.

Among the inductees were Ned Permenter, who won 220 games in 40 years as head football coach at the school, Joey Porter, who played in the NFL with the Steelers, Dolphins and Cardinals, and Lonnie Shelton, a former NBA All-Star and standout forward who won a world title with the Seattle Supersonics in 1979.
