BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Former legendary Foothill football coach Ned Permenter will be honored at halftime of Saturday's East-Foothill football game.

The Trojans will rename their field "Ned Permenter Stadium" .

Permenter coached Foothill for 37 seasons before retiring in 2002.

Permenter, originally the baseball coach, was asked to coach the football team nearly four decades ago.  Ironically, he didn't want to accept the task at first.

However, 220 victories later, Permenter has cemented himself in Foothill, as well as Kern County, sports history.
