BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Central Section Board of Managers meeting in Porterville Wednesday came away with one major change for two Kern County high schools.
Both Garces and Independence High Schools will be changing leagues soon.
The board approved the change for all Garces sports teams to move from its current perch in the Southeast Yosemite League and join the Southwest Yosemite League.
Meanwhile, the Falcons will move from its current residence in the SWYL and head to the South Yosemite League.
Both changes become effective in the fall of 2014.
In addition, the board approved a measure for all schools in the Central Section to have no full-contact practices in the offseason and a measure is on the table for the Central and Northern Sections to oppose each other for all state playoffs.
