BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Independence scored the game's first goal five minutes into the contest but Highland scored two of its own to take a 2-1 halftime advantage on its way to a 3-1 win over the Falcons in a girls Division III quarterfinal contest at Highland Thursday night.
The second half saw the Scots miss more scoring opportunities, including a shot which hit the Independence crossbar.
Highland is the top seed in Division III.
