BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Independence boys basketball team ran quickly and often in the team's 66-36 win over West, Thursday night in the first round of the East Tournament Wednesday night at East High.
Independence pulled away by holding the Vikings scoreless for the final six minutes of the second quarter to take a 23-point lead into intermission.
The Falcons used a full-court press and quickness to force the tempo and force a plethora of turnovers from West.
Independence advances to Thursday's quarterfinal round where they will play Visalia-Redwood.
