Falcons defense tough in rout of Burroughs

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - D.J. Reed and Derek Check led a stout defensive effort in the team's 53-31 win over Ridgecrest Burroughs Wednesday afternoon in the Garces Holiday Hoops Challenge.
The Falcons full-court press helped give them a double-digit lead at the intermission on its way to the victory.
Independence took an 11-2 lead in the first quarter after three steals led to baskets and setting the tone for the remainder of the afternoon.
Independence takes on Fresno Washington-Union in a quarterfinal game Thursday night at 8:45.
