BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - You had to see it to believe it.  Independence guard Derek Check's three-pointer with five seconds remaining pushed the Falcons to a 6o-58 victory over Compton in a CIF Division III State Regional first round matchup Tuesday night at Independence High.

Check's dagger came after Compton's Isaiah Bailey gave Compton a 58-57 lead with thirty seconds left on a jumper.

Independence called timeout to set up their final play and Check was as cool as he could be, hitting the jumper from the top of the key for the win.

Compton inbounded the ball and their player was bumped to the floor by the Falcons Brandon Robinson.  However, no call was made and the refs raced from the floor.

As a result, the third-seeded Falcons will host sixth-seeded Simi Valley Royal on Saturday at 7PM.
