BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Independence Falcons defeated Washington-Union, 57-30, Thursday night in a quarterfinal at the Garces Holiday Hoops Challenge.
Malcolm Johnson scored six points in the first quarter to give the Falcons a six-point lead after the first eight minutes but Independence slowly pulled away in the second half on the strength of Johnson and Isaiah Henderson's strong inside play.
The Falcons will play Bakersfield High in one semifinal Friday night.
