BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Kern County Raceway Park opening date has been pushed back...again.
Raceway officials announced that the park will have its grand opening on May 18 now.
The opening will mark the return of NASCAR racing to Bakersfield.
The park was initially scheduled to open on April 20, but was pushed back to May 4, before the date released today.
According to the raceway, May 4, will serve as 'Fan Appreciation Day' with free admission to the grandstand to watch the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series teams practice. Concession stands will be open and fans can watch drivers on both the half-and quarter-mile speedways dial in their cars in preparation for the 24 race season.
The practice session and open house will run from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. Individual and season tickets and merchandise will be on sale, and information on purchasing one of the track's 21 luxury suites will also be available.
