Local basketball teams begin quests for state titles on Wednesday night

Ridgeview girls are top-seeded as state begins

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Independence and Garces are on the boys side. 

Ridgeview, Garces, Stockdale and Tehachapi are on the girls side.

These six teams will participate in the 2013 CIF State Basketball Playoffs beginning Wednesday night.

Independence, coming off a comeback win over Mission Oak to win the Central Section Division III crown, is seeded third in Division III and host 14th-seeded Compton Wednesday night. 

15th-seeded Garces is the only other boys squad to make it to state play and travels to 2nd-seeded Redondo Union on Wednesday night.

Other local girls teams to make it to state play are the Stockdale girls, seeded 14th in Open Division play and traveling to 3rd-seeded Mater Dei on Friday night, the Garces girls, seeded15th in Division II and going south to take on second-seeded Lynwood Wednesday night and Tehachapi, seeded 12th in Division III and traveling to play 5th-seeded Reseda, also in a Wednesday night affair.
