BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Fresno State safety Phillip Thomas and Oregon offensive lineman Ryan Clanton are ready to have their names called at some point in this week's NFL Draft.
Thomas, a former Bakersfield High standout, led the nation in interceptions this past season with eight after missing all of his junior campaign with a broken leg and dislocated ankle.
He's expected to be taken in the third round, possibly by the Washington Redskins or Pittsburgh Steelers.
On the flip side, Oregon offensive lineman Ryan Clanton may go in the sixth or seventh round, possibly even be signed as a free agent.
The former Bakersfield Christian standout is pumped about the prospect of going to the NFL and has moved from Eugene, Oregon, to Bakersfield to train and await his NFL fate this weekend.
