BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Modesto's Ryan Casteel hit two homers, including a two-run shot in the sixth inning and was the difference in the Nuts 3-2 win over the Blaze Monday night at Sam Lynn Ballpark.
The Nuts trailed 2-0 after the Blaze scored two runs in the second inning on the strength of a solo homer from Ryan Wright and a RBI single from catcher Chris Berset.
However, the Nuts would begin their comeback in the fourth when Casteel hit his first homer of the contest, a solo shot, cutting the Modesto deficit to 2-1.
Casteel would finish the Blaze off in the sixth and extend their losing streak to four games.
Game two of the brief two-game series is Tuesday night at Sam Lynn Ballpark starting at 6:45.
