BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The South High School Football team will step on the field for the first time without fallen head coach, Friday.
Head Coach John Wren passed away in his sleep in July. He left behind a wife, three kids, and a football team.
"They were very upset, they were crushed. The morning I had to tell them, the suddenness of it all, it was just tragic," said Cary Mill, South's newest head coach.
Stickers will be placed on the back of the entire teams helmet with the initials "J.W." and the number 67.
Friday night the Rebels will taken on Highland to finish what Coach Wren had started.
They will hold a memorial before the game for the coach.
