BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - It was announced Wednesday the Cal State baseball team swept three major awards in the Western Athletic Conference.
Tyler Shyrock, Jeff McKenzie and Bill Kernen earned major props. Shyrock was named the WAC Player of the Year, McKenzie its Pitcher of the Year and Kernen the Coach of the Year.
A Tehachapi native, Shyrock batted .362 in conference play and led the league in hits.
McKenzie led the conference with a 1.97 ERA and went 8-1 in addition to tallying 56 strikeouts.
Kernen, in his fifth year at the helm of the Roadrunners, helped lead the blue and gold to a share of the WAC crown in the school's first year of competition in the conference.
