The International Olympic Committee (IOC) held a secret vote today and decided to eliminate wrestling from the 2020 Olympic Games.
The IOC removed wrestling as one of its 25 core sports but reserves the right to vote it back in at a later date.
Bakersfield native and 2012 wrestling olympic gold medalist Jake Varner showed his displeasure with the move via Twitter, as did other athletes disappointed with the IOC's decision.
