Olympic cyclist and Bakersfield native Jimmy Watkins returned to Bakersfield to talk to the local media. Watkins performed in London and finished sixth in the sprint cycling. A late addition to the U.S. Cycling team, Watkins won two races before losing in the quarterfinals. His experience in London was priceless, rife with meeting other Olympic athletes. Watkins said the Opening Ceremonies and mingling with people throughout London was more than worth the trip across the pond. He realized also that even though you may meet famous athletes, they're all just regular people and treat each other the same.
