Wozniacki, Cibulkova Among Day-3 Winners In Bastad

(Sports Network) - World No. 9 Dane Caroline Wozniacki and French Open semifinalist Dominika Cibulkova of Slovakia highlighted Wednesday's second-round winners at the inaugural $220,000 Swedish Open.

The top-seeded Wozniacki handled Czech Petra Kvitova 6-4, 6-2, while a second- seeded Cibulkova drilled Spaniard Nuria Llagostera Vives 6-1, 6-1 on the red clay at Bastad Tennis Stadium.

The two-time 2009 WTA Tour titlist Wozniacki will meet Russian Maria Kirilenko in Thursday's quarterfinals, while Cibulkova will encounter Argentine Gisela Dulko.

Third-seeded Italian Flavia Pennetta pasted Slovenian Masa Zec Peskiric 6-1, 6-2, while an unseeded Dulko toppled fifth-seeded Romanian Sorana Cirstea 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (7-5) and the non-seed Kirilenko took out sixth-seeded Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 6-2, 6-3.

In other second-round action, seventh-seeded Spaniard Carla Suarez Navarro bested Swedish wild card Ellen Allgurin 6-1, 6-4, Russian Alla Kudryavtseva upended eighth-seeded Czech Iveta Benesova 6-2, 6-4 and Spaniard Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez dismissed German Angelique Kerber 6-3, 6-2.

The other quarters will pit Pennetta against Kudryavtseva and Suarez Navarro versus Martinez Sanchez.

This week's champion will pocket $37,000.
