Take Family Vacation To North Dakota This Summer

By Momie Tullottes, Contributing writer

North Dakota is all about celebrating and enjoying the nature of the land. Rolling hills and flowing rivers abound and are a wonderful sight to behold.

International Peace Garden: Here you will find a very unique reflection of peace, history and beauty. The International Peace Garden is shared between Canada and the United States, bordering both countries. This border is one of the longest; the shared garden symbolizes friendship between the neighboring territories.

Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park: This is one of North Dakota's top family spots for vacations for a variety of reasons. Camping cabins are available at this gorgeous state park, as are guided tours, which explain the history behind this site. The original cemetery and fort remain a part of the state park. This is a fun and educational vacation spot for all ages, blending camping with history.

Lake Sakakawea: Visit a great vacation spot for those who enjoy outdoor recreational water activities. The full service marina offers boat rentals to those who do not have their own. Boat and camper storage are available, as well as fishing guide services for those who need them. Families who enjoy fishing and boating will love Lake Sakakawea.

Frost Fire Ski Area: While the name may imply that this ski resort is a place only to be enjoyed in the winter, nothing could be further from the truth. This ski and snowboard resort also offers summer theater shows in addition to ski and snowboard lessons. There is also Dragon's Mouth, a unique terrain park located at the Frost Fire Ski Area. It is equipped with jibs, table tops, rails and more, and can be accessed at no charge.

Dakota Dinosaur Museum: Show the kids a different side of nature with this exciting and educational attraction. The Dakota Dinosaur Museum offers bus tours, which require registration for attendance. Attractions include dinosaur bones, fossils, gemstones and more. Many kids enjoy dinosaurs, so this is sure to be a big hit with families.
