Minnesota Nice For Overnights

It Is Possible To Find Good Lodging Deals Near Water In Minnesota

Traveling can get expensive, especially if you’re hauling a big family around with you. But in Minnesota, you can find several places to stay without busting your budget. Here’s a few to get you started.

Loghouse & Homestead on Spirit Lake: Bed and Breakfasts can always save you a few dollars over standard hotels. Try the Loghouse and Homestead on Spirit Lake in Vargas, Minn., for a reasonably-priced stay close to a lake. The Swedish design of the cabins dates back to the turn of the 20th century. The lodge also sells pure maple syrup produced in the adjacent woods.

Viking Inn: Want to add a little excitement and variety to your stay without adding a lot of cost? Consider the Viking Inn, a “Medieval Brew and Bed” in Central Minnesota. The Viking-themed rooms give the true feeling of Valhalla with names such as “Odin’s Loft” to “Jarl’s Den.”

Geneva Beach Resort: Any trip to Minnesota must somehow involve water. The Geneva Beach Resort near Alexandria, Minn., is set on a chain of five lakes in western Minnesota. You can fish, bike and golf and enjoy many other water sports near the resort.

Gus’ Place Resort: Want to get away from everything? Serious seclusion is offered at Gus’ Place resort in far northeastern Minnesota. Tucked tightly into the Chippewa National Forest on Lake Winnibigosh, all the land surrounding the resort is owned by the federal government and has little to no development anywhere nearby.

Bird House Inn: Lake Minnetonka, minutes west of Minneapolis, is known for the million-dollar houses that adorn its shoreline. But, if a million-dollar home is not in your budget, consider the Bird House Inn. The historic home and surrounding gardens offer tremendous views and access to the lake starting around $150 per night.
