Jack Church - Chief Meteorologist
Jack is thrilled to be back with ABC 23 as chief meteorologist anchoring the station’s weeknight weather at 5, 6 & 11. Jack first came to ABC 23 in late 1998 and left in early 2001.He has forecasted just about every climate you can imagine from lake effect snow in upstate New York, hurricanes in Florida and tornadoes in Texas.Prior to his first tour of duty in Bakersfield he was chief meteorologist for KCOY in Santa Maria for 7 years where he also wrote and published a comprehensive annual weather almanac about weather across California.
Over 20,000 copies of the book were distributed each year and Jack hopes to produce a similar book again in the near future.Over the years Jack has been honored with two California Golden Microphone and three AP awards for best weather broadcast in California. Jack was born and raised in Tennessee and his huge UT Volunteer fan.He completed meteorology studies at Mississippi State University as well as advanced weather radar training while working with Baron Services, the leading weather radar and severe storm tracking company in the country.Jack’s family includes his lovely bride of 28 years, Pam with their daughter Hannah and a son in college, Eric. As a family they love to golf, fish, boat and hike along with numerous Church activities and community volunteer projects.
