3-year-old girl found unresponsive in Taft identified

Cause of death pending further studies

TAFT, Calif. - A three-year-old has been identified in what the police chief called a 'suspicious' death.

On August 19, officers with the Taft Police Department went to the 300 block of San Emidio Street in Taft, regarding an unresponsive toddler.

When officers arrived, they tried to revive the three-year-old, identified as Kylie Rose Richards, but were unsuccessful. Firefighters and paramedics also tried to revive the girl but were also unsuccessful, according to reports.

After completing a postmortem examination, the coroner said the cause of death is pending further studies.
