BAKERSFIELD - Bakersfield's Derek Carr has been drafted by the Oakland Raiders as the fourth pick in the second round of the NFL draft.
The first round came and went and there was no team that called Carr, despite analysts predicting he would be drafted in the first round.
The former Bakersfield Christian High and Fresno State quarterback said he was excited for day two, no matter where he lands.
"It didn't work out the way we thought or the way some people wanted it to," Carr said to media Thursday night. "But my goodness, I am going to have the opportunity to be an NFL quarterback."
There were four quarterbacks projected to be selected in the first round, including Carr and Johnny "Football" Manziel. Three were drafted.
Derek's big brother David was the first pick of the 2002 draft for the Texans.
Some analysts had Carr going to Arizona with the 52nd pick, or to Oakland with the 36th pick.
23ABC will have live coverage of round two of the draft from the Carr house.
