BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Detectives are investigating after a body was found in east Bakersfield this afternoon.
On May 6, at about noon, deputies from the Kern County Sheriff’s Office went to an orange orchard on Comanche Drive south of Breckenridge Road, east of Bakersfield, regarding a body found in the orchard.
When deputies arrived they spoke with a farm laborer who had found the body while working in the orchard. They were directed to the body and determined the person deceased was a Hispanic man with obvious signs of trauma.
Based on evidence at the scene it appears the dead man was victim of a homicide.
Detectives responded to the scene and initiated a homicide investigation. The Coroner’s Office responded and took custody of the decedent. An autopsy will be scheduled to determine cause and manner of death.

Detectives told 23ABC that there are obvious signs of trauma on the body. The case is being treated as a homicide.
