BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Bakersfield organizations have been impacted by the government shutdown. that are now relying on backup funding to stay in business.
Among those affected are local veterans.
Directors with the Veterans Assistance Foundation say they've lost a great deal of their funding and are not sure how long they can last on reserve funds, especially if the government defaults.
Kern County has experienced delays in receiving certain funds, because of the furlough of certain federal employees.
Analysts say there are sufficient cash reserves on hand, and they haven't had to suspend any programs or projects.
However, Directors of the Veterans Assistance Foundation say the shutdown has caused significant funding problems for their organization-- as they rely on grants from the Department of Labor.
