Grand Fire in Kern County grows to 4,350 acres

70% containment as of 6:00 a.m. Saturday

FRAZIER PARK, Calif. - UPDATE: As of May 18, 2013 at 6:00 a.m., the fire has grown to 4,350 acres and is currently 70% contained.

 

Firefighters successfully completed line construction around the fire. Crews will continue
to improve and hold existing lines, and continue with suppression repair. Demobilization will continue.
Resources departing the incident will be aware of the Heartbreak Hundred Bicycle Ride taking place in the area from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

Frazier Mountain High School was back in session Friday.

The Grand Fire started Wednesday afternoon in rugged terrain approximately two miles east of Frazier Park near Hungry Valley State Park, which will remain closed until further notice.

No structures or homes have been lost, and no injuries or damage have been reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.  The fire is estimated to be fully contained by May 20.
