Man accused of attempting almond theft to appear in court

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A nut broker stopped the theft of $100,000 of almonds by a driver and that driver is scheduled to appear in court.
Francisco Martinez showed fake documents to an employee at Sunny Gem Almond Processor and was arrested by Sheriff's deputies when he returned to pick up the load, officials said.
Martinez is being held at the Kern County Jail on $230,000 bail and is facing grand theft charges among others.
