BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - NASA used a Kern County military base as a test site for a new spacecraft yesterday.
The spacecraft, which has been deemed the Dream Chaser, is a spaceship designed to take astronauts to and from the International Space Station
It underwent a two hour test run yesterday at NASA's Dryden Flight Research Center at the Edwards Air Force Base.
A helicopter picked a test version of the spacecraft and flew it more than 12,000 feet in the air.
The Dream Chaser followed a projected path and had its flight computer, guidance, and navigation systems tested.
The land gear was also deployed.
The vehicle is designed to carry seven people and land like a plane.
