BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - On June 30, around 6:40 p.m., Kern County sheriff's deputies responded to the 3000 block of Monterey Street for a report of a residential robbery. It has been confirmed that a former high school teacher and two transvestites were allegedly robbing a Bakersfield man.
Bakersfield police say former Foothill High School math teacher David Espericueta shot and killed an intruder in March at his northeast Bakersfield home. Now he is a suspect in the residential robbery.
Deputies say the victim knew one of the three suspects and allowed them to enter his home.
Deputies say one of the suspects took an Apple laptop from the victim's bed and began to leave the house.
When the victim attempted to stop the suspect, the suspect pushed him aside and sprayed him in the face with pepper spray.
Deputies say the victim reported the suspect then struck him twice in the back of the head with an unknown object.
The three suspects then fled in a black Chevrolet Avalanche with chrome rims.
The victim described two of the suspects as black males dressed in female’s clothing, and the third suspect as an older white male.
The victim captured the suspect vehicle leaving on a cellular phone video.
The victim utilized the Apple iCloud application to determine the location of the stolen laptop and directed deputies to the 2400 block of Eric Way.
Deputies were able to locate the suspect vehicle and located the three suspects in a nearby apartment.
Deputies recovered the stolen laptop and identified the three suspects as Harold Oats, Kenneth Thomas, and David Espericuerta.
Deputies say the victim knew Harold Oats, and Oats has a prior conviction for prostitution.
All three men were booked on multiple charges including robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, and conspiracy.
Additionally, Oats was booked on a felony warrant for violation of Post Release Community Supervision.
