BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Westpark Home Owner's Association hosted their second annual yard sale to fight for their neighborhood.
The event is meant to raise funds to fight the city council and the Centennial Corridor Project. The main concern is over plans to demolish hundreds of homes to make way for the corridor which would connect Highway 58 east of Highway 99 to the Westside Parkway.
The co-president of the organization, Michael Werlinich, said he was happy with the response they received during the sale.
"There was a very good response today... It's hard to say but I think we've seen at least 200 different families come starting around six o'clock," Werlinich said.
The group also wants to stop the city from borrowing millions of dollars for the freeway.
