BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Black Friday may be over, but small business Saturday is happening tomorrow in Bakersfield.

23ABC News spoke to local businesses about some of the deals that will still be sticking around through Saturday.

The businesses we spoke to said that for the last several months they have been doing everything they can to keep their businesses afloat due to COVID-19 and they say they have been anticipating Small Business Saturday and the holiday season to extend their sales and make up for losses.

“Tomorrow we are actually going to be hosting a few small businesses out on the sidewalk,”Owner of, In Your Wildest Dreams Boutique, Dixie Brewer said.

The holidays are here and small business owners like Brewer Downtown Bakersfield said she has been gearing up for shoppers looking for deals.

Brewer said that she invited other local businesses to set up shop outside of her store for Small Business Saturday.

“There will be four or five I believe out here and the whole store will be on sale as well.”

Small Business Saturday occurs each Saturday after Black Friday.

Other local businesses like Encore! Boutique told 23ABC that with little to no revenue coming in when they had to shut down for several months due to COVID-19, traditions like this are what helps keep them operating.

“On Small Business Saturday we have always noticed a spike in business thankfully the community supports us,” Manager of Encore! Boutique, Catherine Skow said.

Loyal clientele has been stepping in to show support, choosing local first and keeping the business community strong.

Kelly Bearden, the director of California State University of Bakersfield Small Business Development Center, also highlighted why events like this are so valuable to the community infrastructure.

“It’s really brought awareness to the need to shop small and to really support your local businesses and assist them. In the past it’s been really well organized and really leading into the holiday shopping you couldn’t ask for anything else,” Bearden said.

There are several local businesses that will be offering sales tomorrow.

If you would like further information on discounts, businesses tell 23ABC News you can always contact them directly to see if they are participating in Small Business Saturday and offering sales tomorrow.
