  • The deputies said they were met on the street by the child’s stepmother, who was holding the child, the KCSD reported.

The deputy immediately started CPR; however, the boy did not respond to treatment and was pronounced dead at the home, deputies said.

Sheriff officials said the 3-year-old died while living with his biological father's ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend in Taft.

    No arrests have been made.

"It's got to stop. The child abuse, the child neglect and child endangerment all has to stop. I lost my grandson and it does not make any sense," said Kathy Holman, Fanshier's grandmother.
