A Kern County Sheriff's deputy has been allowed back to work after a fatal shooting was ruled as justified.
On March 31, Deputy Sean Pratt responded to a call at the Motel 6 on Brundage Lane on reports of a man threatening people with a gun.
Officials with the Sheriff's Department said that when he arrived, he found Douglas Good holding a gun.
Pratt told him to put down the gun, but Good instead pointed the 9 mm handgun at the deputy.
That's when Pratt fired two rounds from his shotgun, hitting Good in the chest and left leg.
Good died from his injuries at the scene.
On Monday, a Sheriff's Department shooting review board found the incident to be within policy.
Pratt has been on paid administrative leave and will now return to full duty.
