2 suspects wanted for attempted kidnapping

BPD asks for community's assistance in locating

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Two suspects are wanted in attempted kidnapping and annoying children.

Officers of the Bakersfield Police Department were called out to the 700 block of Truxton Avenue for a report of an attempted kidnap.

Preliminary investigation into the case revealed that the 13-year-old female victim was walking in the parking lot of the Beale Memorial Library located at 701 Truxton Avenue when a full-size van approached her.


The driver of the van attempted to verbally coax the victim to the vehicle but the victim ignored him and ran around the vehicle. The victim was then confronted by a second suspect, possibly the front passenger. This suspect attempted to grab the victim; however, she was able to run away. 
The first suspect is described as a male, 40-50 years old, having ear length gray hair, blue eyes, and facial hair.
The second suspect is described as a male, 40-50 years old, having ear length gray hair, wearing a dirty green shirt and blue shorts.
The vehicle is described as a full-size maroon van with a gold stripe “possibly a lightning bolt” along the sides.
