A Thanksgiving tradition continues in Delano this year -- the 2nd Annual Delano Community Thanksgiving Luncheon took place Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Tony's Firehouse Grill.
The stay-in-vehicle event served 800 pounds of turkey along with mashed potatoes with gravy, stuffing, green beans, pumpkin pies all donated by local groups.
"We started off with 800 pounds of turkey and we plan to serve at least 1,400 plates today," said Event Chairman Art Armendariz. "Matter of fact we are almost out of plates and food and everything else. It really shows what times we are in right now. We are trying to help the community."
People from all walks of life came out to help serve the community. They told 23ABC they are grateful that they were able to serve food and they say that they just wanted to thank all of the people who came out to help.
