Joined 23ABCnews: August 2012

Most Memorable Stories:  I had the opportunity to showcase the hard work and dedication of the young men and women of Onate High School’s Junior ROTC program in Las Cruces, NM.  I also did a story about a local elementary school student who took on bullying by creating a Facebook page where his peers can go for help. I also did a story about a teenager living with Tourette’s syndrome and working to educate the community about his disorder.

Awards/Honors: I won 10 Iowa Broadcast News Association Awards between 2004-2006 in the categories of Spot News, General Assignment Reporting, In-Depth/Series, Public Affairs and Political Coverage.  I also won a national TELLY Award for a series I did on JFK.  In 2010, I was nominated for my very first EMMY award.

News Philosophy: Everyone has a story that helps inform and motivate.

Hobbies/Interests: In August of 2011, I started on a journey to live a better and healthier life so, going to the gym has become my first love (I’m have way to my fitness goal!!!). Then, it’s going to the movies and taking road trips.

Hidden Talent: I wish I can tell you I can sing or play an instrument well, but I can’t.  However, I’m a pretty good listener and some say I dance pretty good (I guess it’s in the blood).

Pets: My childhood dog passed away back in 2003 and I haven’t had any pets since.  But, I have had the chance to dog and cat sit many of my friend’s pets over the years.

Something Most People don't know about me:  I come from a TV family.  My uncle is a photographer for NBC 5 in Chicago and my sister is an editor for NBC 6 in Miami.  My favorite times were always working the morning show with both of them.

What I like best about Southern California: It seems like everything is so close by.  I plan to start exploring the area as soon as I can.

On the weekends I love to: Rent movies, going to the movies, maybe a concert, take a road trip or spend time working out.  I also stay in contact with family and friends via various social networking sites.

You're most likely to see me around town:  If I’m not traveling around the community covering stories, you will most likely see me at the gym.
