Organizations in the community teamed up and took a tour in a GET bus around Oildale for an hour on Wednesday evening. They drove passed parks and residential areas that needed some improvements. Their goal was see what can be done to make Oildale a safer place.
This was the first time they used a bus to go around the community. In the past they walked to certain areas and hosted different events in order to help improve Oildale.
As community leaders went around town, they discussed what they saw and also prepared so that when they meet again they can be proactive with their next step.
“We don’t want to put people in situations where they are in harms way or anything like that but we do want to bring light to those areas – those criminal activities and things that are happening and get the right resources so that they can be solved,” Dave Kadel a member of the Oildale Community Action Team said.
